Augustana College Athletics

A 1931 graduate, Robert Sandstrom was another one of Augustana’s standout athletes that competed in more than one sport.  Sandstrom was a fullback in football and he also competed in track, leading the Vikings to four successful years. 

In football Sandstrom guided Augie’s 1928 squad to a 7-1 record, the best in Augustana’s history to that date.  A scholar-athlete, Sandstrom went on to earn eight varsity letters and in 1930 he was named to the All-Time All-Augustana Football team, chosen by the Augustana Observer student newspaper.  Sandstrom has earned his spot in the Hall of Honor.
