Augustana College Athletics

A 1941 graduate, Bob Crist was a standout football player for four years.  He served as captain of the 1939 team.  That same year he made first team All Conference in the Little 19 Athletic Conference.  Bill Kinney, Rock Island Argus Sports Editor during Crist’s playing years said, “A great football player that must rank among the very best Augustana has produced.”

Crist was also a fine track star.  He was third high point man in 1939.  He specialized in the weights and held several school records in his specialties, the shot put and discus.  Crist is welcomed into the Hall of Honor as a standout athlete.
