Arthur T. Anderson was a 6’7” basketball great from 1935-39.  A 1939 graduate, he was a regular for four years on an Augie team that was recognized as one of Illinois’ finest.  It isn’t surprising that at 6’7” he played center for the Augustana basketball team and was elected team Captain as a senior.

Anderson was honored as high scorer and was placed on the All-Tournament first team in the 1938 Illinois-Iowa College Tournament.  In 1939 he held the Illinois College Conference scoring title with the most total points and best average.  He was elected All-Conference and All-State in 1939.  During his Augie career he held the highest single game scoring total with 27 points, as well as the Augie four year record of 741 points.  As a great basketball athlete, Anderson is inducted into Augustana’s Hall of Honor.
